Izod/ Charpy Impact Tester is an instrument to measure the impact resistance of materials, especially plastics. The energy required to break the specimen by an axial impact is measured in joule.
Prevest Research Institute possesses a digital Izod/ Charpy Impact Tester from Presto testing Instruments, Model No. IZC-222. The instrument is useful testing in accordance with standards like ASTM D-256-10, ASTM D6110-10, ISO 180. Impact tests are used to study the toughness of materials which is a factor of its ability to absorb energy during plastic deformation. The instrument consists of a pendulum incorporating an arm in the form of circular arc of 150°, sample clamping fixtures with the adjustable screws and interchangeable weights correspond to different ranges of energy from 2.71J – 25.02 J.
