Rotary evaporators (rotovaps) are devices employed for the efficient and gentle removal of solvents via the process of evaporation. The process of rotary evaporation is applied to separate mostly low boiling solvent from a sample after the extraction process such as a pigments or organic compounds. The advantage is that the solvent and the solute can be recovered without excessive heating as the process is taking place under vacuum and reduces the boiling point of the solvent which is then separated by evaporation and condensation. At Prevest Research Institute the rotavapor is having a capacity of 1- 3ltr.
